RPSG Group to Build New High-Performance Cricket Centre Near Old Trafford

RPSG Group’s Sanjiv Goenka has signed a multi-million-pound deal with Lancashire Cricket to create a high-tech, high performance centre near Old Trafford.

Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group will invest heavily in the sport by signing a multi-million pound deal with Lancashire Cricket in Manchester. The project will also involve the construction of a new high-performance centre, which will be situated near the iconic Old Trafford Cricket Ground, providing a modern training facility for players and teams affiliated to the RPSG Group and Lancashire.

The deal will enable RPSG to buy up the land behind Old Trafford where the new stadium will be built. The current indoor centre will also be undergoing a significant refurbishment with the upgraded complex to give players access to modern training and performance facilities.

State-of-the-Art Facility Planned

The new centre will include indoor practice nets, a modern gym, outdoor training areas, sports science facilities and medical facilities. The development will create a quality environment for players to prepare, train and recover all year round.

The project will help fulfil the wider vision of Lancashire Cricket and will also benefit the different teams that are part of Goenka’s sporting family. The investment is part of RPSG’s ongoing efforts to expand its participation in international cricket and enhance its sporting facilities in the long-term.

The partnership was a pledge to build facilities that will serve players for many years to come, Goenka said. He also pointed out the need for creating a conducive atmosphere to nurture the next generation of cricketers.

RPSG Teams to Benefit

The centre will have a significant link with a number of teams owned or controlled by the RPSG Group. These include Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League, Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred and Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20 competition in South Africa.

These teams may be able to use a high-level training base at the facility when in the United Kingdom. It will also be able to host international and touring teams at Old Trafford.

Manchester Super Giants are now a part of RPSG’s expanding cricket portfolio and Goenka is a major stakeholder in the club. The investment in Manchester is therefore a further boost to the group’s ties with the region, apart from their involvement in The Hundred.

Long-Term Partnership With Lancashire

The project is part of a long term project between RPSG and Lancashire Cricket to enhance cricket facilities in the area of Old Trafford. Both organisations would like to develop facilities to enable the development and performance of players throughout the Lancashire system.

The new centre will be integrated with the existing facilities for the sport of cricket in the area and will offer Lancashire’s teams further support in their various competitions.

The development is also a chance for RPSG to make a long-term impact in English cricket. The group isn’t just investing in franchise teams, but in infrastructure that will have a broader impact on the game.

Goenka Expands Cricket Investment

With the participation of the RPSG Group in various franchise cricket tournaments in various countries, Goenka has emerged as one of the prominent names in the franchise cricket world. The group has also owned teams in Lucknow Super Giants, Manchester Super Giants and Durban’s Super Giants, which has put them in some of the world’s top T20 leagues.

The new project in Manchester is another part of that growth. RPSG’s investment in high performing facilities will enable its staff and players to access contemporary training facilities and help advance the development of cricket in the region.

Once the development is complete, the centre will be a key component of the cricket infrastructure in the Old Trafford area. The project could have a positive impact on professional players, franchise teams and the cricket community for years to come, thanks to the collaboration between Lancashire and RPSG.
