ICC Bans Akhilesh Reddy for Eight Years Over Corruption Charges

Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy, the USA international, has been suspended from all cricket for eight years following his conviction by the ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal for several offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code in connection with the upcoming T10 tournament in Abu Dhabi in 2025.

USA cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy has been banned from playing cricket for eight years by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating several rules of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

The suspension has been retroactive to November 21, 2025, when Reddy was provisionally suspended, and will be in effect until November 2033.

ICC Hands Reddy Eight-Year Suspension

The disciplinary action is in response to an investigation into corruption-related activities during the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 League, in which the ICC was the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the Emirates Cricket Board.

After the tribunal’s verdict, Reddy has been suspended from all cricket activities during his period of suspension.

Found Guilty of Multiple Anti-Corruption Breaches

The tribunal ruled that Reddy violated several provisions of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

He was convicted of trying to improperly influence aspects of cricket matches, encouraging another participant to engage in corrupt conduct and deliberately obstructing the ICC’s investigation.

Investigators also found that Reddy deleted messages and other information from his cell phone that could have been used as evidence in the investigation.

Investigation Linked to Abu Dhabi T10

The case stems from the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, one of the leading franchise competitions in associate cricket.

The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit has investigated the case thoroughly before referring it to an independent tribunal which subsequently confirmed the charges against the USA international.

The decision is another sign of the ICC’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport.

Second USA International Sanctioned

Reddy is the second USA international cricketer to be slapped with anti-corruption charges this year.

Another USA player was provisionally suspended earlier this year after being charged with several offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which relate to a different franchise tournament investigation.

The latest sanction reflects the ICC’s continued efforts to tackle corruption in all forms in domestic and international cricket.

ICC Reaffirms Commitment to Clean Cricket

The ICC has always had a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption, and has imposed severe punishments for those who violate the Anti-Corruption Code.

The eight-year ban is yet another testament to the governing body’s resolve to ensure the integrity and credibility of cricket at all levels.
