The Eagles made their intent clear before the draft even started. They signed three big names in advance: Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer and Trent Boult. Emirates Eagles Full Squad for Abu Dhabi T10 2026

The Emirates Eagles named an 18-man squad for the Abu Dhabi T10 2026 season after the player draft, as reported by IANS in October 2026. The list blends West Indies firepower, England experience, Pakistan pace and Sri Lanka skill, with four UAE domestic picks completing the roster.

Rovman Powell leads the marquee group. The West Indies star is one of the most feared six-hitters in T20 cricket and brings real leadership to the dressing room. Shimron Hetmyer adds more Caribbean muscle in the middle order, while Trent Boult gives the Eagles a world-class new-ball weapon. Boult can swing the ball both ways at pace, and in a 10-over game, two early wickets from him can decide a match in the powerplay.

The batting has serious depth. Alex Hales is one of the most experienced T20 openers in world cricket, Kusal Perera can destroy any attack on his day, and Hassan Nawaz is a young Pakistan batter with a big reputation. Behind the stumps, the Eagles have three options in KS Bharat, Toby Albert and Kusal Perera, which gives the team good flexibility.

The bowling unit looks well rounded. Noor Ahmad is a young Afghan wrist spinner who has troubled batters in leagues around the world. Rehan Ahmed offers leg spin plus handy lower-order runs for England, and Chris Green brings control with his off spin along with late-order hitting. David Wiese, the South Africa all-rounder, is a proven T20 finisher with both bat and ball. Pakistan quicks Akif Javed and Ali Raza add raw pace, while UAE picks Haider Razzaq, Luqman Faisal, Harshit Kaushik and Hilal Afghan give the squad local flavour and fresh legs.

Icon Player and Key Stars of Emirates Eagles

Rovman Powell is the face of this Eagles side. When Powell gets going, few bowlers in the world can stop him, and his ability to clear the ropes from ball one makes him perfect for T10 cricket. He will likely bat in the top four and take charge in the death overs, where his power can turn 20 runs into 40 in no time.

Shimron Hetmyer is another match-winner. The left-hander plays with freedom and flair, and his record in franchise leagues shows he can single-handedly chase down big totals. Alex Hales brings calm at the top of the order. Hales has played T20 cricket all over the world for more than a decade, and his experience of pacing a short innings is priceless.

With the ball, Trent Boult is the standout name. His opening spell will be the most important phase for the Eagles in every game. If Boult strikes twice in his two overs, the opposition will be on the back foot for the rest of the innings. David Wiese and Chris Green give the captain reliable middle-over options, while Noor Ahmad and Rehan Ahmed offer wicket-taking spin. Akif Javed and Ali Raza are exciting young Pakistan quicks who can surprise batters with pace and bounce.

Emirates Eagles Strengths and Weaknesses

The biggest strength of the Emirates Eagles is their batting firepower. Powell, Hetmyer, Hales and Kusal Perera in one squad is a frightening thought for any bowling attack. In T10 cricket, where every ball must go for runs, having four or five players who can hit sixes at will is a massive advantage. The Eagles can afford one failure because the next man in is just as dangerous.

The new-ball attack is another plus. Trent Boult with support from Akif Javed or Ali Raza gives the Eagles pace and swing up front. The spin department also looks clever, with Noor Ahmad, Rehan Ahmed and Chris Green offering three different styles. David Wiese adds balance as a genuine all-rounder who can bowl at the death and finish with the bat.

The main question mark is the death bowling beyond Boult. In T10, the last three overs often decide the game, and the Eagles will need Wiese and one of the young quicks to hold their nerve under pressure. The UAE domestic picks are talented but largely untested at this level, so the team management will need to use them smartly. Batting depth is strong on paper, but if two of the big three fail in the same game, the middle order will face real pressure.
