Kuldeep Yadav Joins Yorkshire for First County Cricket Stint

India’s left-arm wrist-spinner signs with Yorkshire for the remainder of the domestic season, featuring in both the One-Day Cup and County Championship

India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has signed for Yorkshire, marking the first county cricket stint of his professional career as he prepares to represent the English club during the closing stages of the 2026 domestic season.

The 31-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner will be available for five Metro Bank One-Day Cup matches before returning in September to play three of Yorkshire’s final four County Championship fixtures.

Maiden county opportunity for Kuldeep

Kuldeep’s move to Yorkshire represents a new chapter in his career after establishing himself as one of India’s leading spin bowlers across international cricket.

He has also been included in Yorkshire’s squad for their upcoming One-Day Cup match against Glamorgan, where he could make his debut for the county.

The experienced spinner said he is excited to represent one of England’s most historic cricket clubs and is looking forward to testing himself in English conditions.

Chance to revive international momentum

The county stint comes at an important stage of Kuldeep’s career after he found himself on the fringes of India’s white-ball squads in recent months.

He missed selection for India’s T20I series against England and did not feature during the following ODI series, making regular match practice in county cricket an important opportunity ahead of future international assignments.

Kuldeep will now aim to rediscover his best form while gaining valuable experience in English conditions.

Impressive international record

Kuldeep has enjoyed considerable success for India since making his international debut.

In Test cricket, he has claimed 79 wickets in 18 matches at an outstanding average, including an impressive performance during India’s home Test series against England in 2024.

He has also established himself as one of India’s leading white-ball spinners, taking 194 wickets in One-Day Internationals with his deceptive left-arm wrist spin.

Yorkshire delighted with signing

Yorkshire General Manager of Cricket Gavin Hamilton welcomed the arrival of the Indian spinner, describing him as a world-class cricketer who will strengthen the team’s bowling attack.

Hamilton believes the dry conditions experienced during the English summer will make spin bowling increasingly important in the latter stages of the season, with Kuldeep expected to play a key role in both white-ball and red-ball competitions.

He also praised the Indian international’s experience and ability to provide Yorkshire with a different bowling option.

Important addition for Yorkshire

Kuldeep’s signing is expected to boost Yorkshire’s ambitions in both the Metro Bank One-Day Cup and the County Championship as the season enters its decisive phase.

For Kuldeep, the move offers an opportunity to gain valuable overseas experience, return to competitive cricket, and strengthen his case for a regular place in India’s future international squads while beginning his long-awaited county cricket journey.
