Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das has been summoned before the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) disciplinary committee for allegedly violating the board’s Code of Conduct by going to China without prior permission.
The hearing was held on Sunday when BCB officials were looking into the circumstances of Litton’s trip as he recovered from an injury that kept him out of Bangladesh’s trip to Zimbabwe and the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL).
China trip triggers disciplinary action
Litton has been reported to have gone to China after his return from Zimbabwe without notifying the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The transfer reportedly had the board officials concerned because they were not aware of his injury status and whereabouts during his rehabilitation period.
Litton is a centrally contracted player and as such should be alerting the BCB to his movements, and the board considered the failure to do so to be a violation of the BCB’s Code of Conduct.
Injury forced him out of Zimbabwe tour and LPL
Litton had been sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury, forcing him to miss the remainder of Bangladesh’s Zimbabwe tour as well as his participation in the ongoing Lanka Premier League.
The wicketkeeper-batter is now expected to travel to Singapore for further medical assessment in an effort to speed up his recovery.
BCB reviewing player’s explanation
After the hearing, BCB officials stated that Litton had presented his version of events, and the board would seek the advice of its medical committee before taking a final decision.
Board members said that Litton’s explanation seemed sincere and that he has had a good disciplinary record during his international career.
The incident could have been the result of a misunderstanding, not a deliberate violation of board rules, officials said.
Board sends strong message on discipline
The Bangladesh Cricket Board noted that all the centrally contracted players should abide by the rules, irrespective of their role in the team, despite Litton’s clean record.
The board restated that it will not tolerate indiscipline and will use the case as a reminder to all players to communicate properly with the team management and board officials.
The disciplinary committee will review all the information and applicable provisions of the BCB’s Code of Conduct to decide whether any action will be taken against Litton Das.
