Barbados Tridents Unveil Overseas Contingent for CPL 2026

The Barbados Tridents have announced their overseas player lineup for the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which includes a host of international power, quality spin, seam-bowling variety and all-round versatility.

The five overseas players that have been confirmed for the upcoming campaign are Quinton de Kock, Chris Green, Mujeeb ur Rahman, George Linde and Daniel Sams. The recruitment is part of the Tridents’ drive to create a well-rounded team as it moves back to its historic roots under the “One Barbados” partnership.

Tridents Build Strong Overseas Core

The Barbados squad is definitely making a statement with its overseas recruitment as the Oval will be the venue for this year’s CPL final. The franchise has been able to put together explosive batting and experienced bowlers, which has provided a lot of flexibility to the team in various match scenarios.

The overseas quintet offers the Tridents quality options across all departments and may be a key component in the team’s bid to win the CPL in 2026.

Quinton de Kock Returns to Barbados

The overseas signings will feature South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who will be back with the Tridents for the next season.

One of the most destructive openers in white-ball cricket, de Kock is capable of taking control of an innings during the powerplay. He is an aggressive batsman who may be well suited to attack in the fast outfield of Kensington Oval, where the bounce is good.

His experience at the highest level also means that Barbados have a proven track record of being at the top of the line-up.

Chris Green Adds Spin and Experience

Another addition to the Tridents is Australian off-spinner Chris Green, who will provide much-needed experience and control in the bowling attack.

Green has proven to be a reliable T20 bowler, especially in the middle order, where his accuracy and ability to change pace can make it difficult for the opposition to score. His fielding skills are also a good addition.

His return will bolster the Tridents’ spin department and provide the team with another veteran to handle the middle order of innings.

Mujeeb ur Rahman Brings Mystery Spin

The addition of Mujeeb ur Rahman to the Barbados team is another big threat of a spinster for Afghanistan.

Mujeeb is a player who has become one of the toughest to attack in T20 cricket and is known for his mystery variations and tight economy rate. He can be used in various positions in an innings and can provide some batting depth at the bottom of the order.

Mujeeb also had previous with the Barbados side as he was a member of the team that made it to the 2022 CPL final.

George Linde Provides All-Round Balance

South African all-rounder George Linde provides the Tridents with yet another versatile addition in both departments.

The left arm spinner brings some spice to the bowling attack and also contributes to the attack lower in the order. He has the ability to play multiple roles, which may provide the team with more flexibility in their playing XI.

Linde’s addition to the mix with Green and Mujeeb makes Barbados a very strong spin arsenal.

Daniel Sams Returns to the Tridents

Daniel Sams (Australia) is the other overseas player and will also be joining the Tridents.

The left arm seamer has the ability to break the line with the ball and the ability to provide death bowling. His power hitting provides an additional option in the lower middle order and boosts the finishing ability of the Barbados squad.

Sams is an important player for the Tridents’ plans for the coming campaign as he can contribute with both bat and ball.

Strong West Indian Core

The overseas quintet will be backed up by a solid West Indian side featuring Gudakesh Motie, Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford.

The Tridents have a well-rounded team with Caribbean players and international players who have experience in the Caribbean, which allows them to play in various situations and conditions.

Barbados Tridents Target CPL Glory

The Barbados Tridents have now confirmed their overseas side and have put together a team of power, variety and experience.

The presence of some familiar faces, alongside the recruitment of quality overseas players, reflects the franchise’s aspirations for the upcoming CPL 2026 season.

The Tridents will be looking to have a successful campaign and be the ones to lift the CPL back to the top of the Caribbean T20 format with their new-look team, as the Oval will be the venue for the final of the tournament.
